Love for Protein!
Back in the gym this week with a new fat loss new years resolution? Remember, one key factor in weight loss is protein:) There are so many options when adding protein into your daily diet! Whey protein is one of them! Add a scoop into a shake, yogurt, or a glass of milk once a day to help meet your daily quota of protein. (I prefer hemp vanilla protein powder instead of whey. You can find it at your local trader joes or whole foods). Click on the picture below and it will take you to my Pinterest where there's a few more recipes to add to your options!

I am an avid lover of anything chocolate. But if I don't want to ruin my healthy eating plan that week/day something like this recipe is a fabulous alternative to the calorie loaded brownies or traditional chocolate cake. And it's just as tasty :)

4 tbsp oat flour (ground oatmeal) or quinoa flakes
4tsbp Splenda or Stevia

1. To a large coffee mug add oat flour, stevia, and cocoa and mix well. Add egg whites and mix well.
2. Add milk, applesauce and vanilla and mix well until combined. Place mug in microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high. Let cool for a few minutes and serve!

Love for Taco Tuesday!
Ground turkey tacos is on our menu tonight! Here's the recipe I use:
fresh corn tortillas or whole wheat (if your grocery sells them)
1 pound of ground turkey
1 can black beans
1 cup of Greek yogurt (substitute for sour cream, more protein & less fat)
3 cups of spinach
1/2 cup feta or cheddar cheese
1 jalapeno, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1/2 avocado
1 tomato, chopped
1 lemon
Heat black beans in microwave & brown the ground turkey in a skillet on low/medium heat no oil necessary. Add your ground turkey to your tortillas followed by the black beans. And then garnish with all or some of the yummy toppings. Drizzle a little lemon juice on top to wrap it up!
Best of all you can enjoy your clean & yummy tacos!

Love for glowing skin!
This summer I have been out in the sun and at the pool a lot with kids so I was exploring a few ways to freshen up my skin! Found this recipe for a body scrub & thought I'd share! This is a great regular exfoliant as well! Along with drinking tons of water this will help my skin get it's glow back!

Ingredients
1/2 cup sea salt
1/2 cup sweet almond oil
(can substitute light olive oil or vegetable oil)
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1/2 cup sweet almond oil
(can substitute light olive oil or vegetable oil)
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
Directions
In a medium dry bowl, combine all ingredients making sure to not let any water touch them as it will dissolve the salt. Pour mixture into an airtight container and store in a cool dry place.
To use: Just before showering, swirl ingredients together with your fingertips to mix. Clean body completely and just before getting out of the shower, apply Citrus Salt Body Scrub to body in a firm circular scrubbing motion with hands or a soft washcloth. Rinse off the mixture and pat body dry with a clean towel.

Love for bright ideas!
Here's a yummy recipe I saw on Designer Whey. These are perfect for those hot summer days (well every day here in SA). Variation in your daily serving of fresh fruit and a healthy alternative to popsicles for you or your kiddos! My favorite fruits to use are strawberries & blackberries! Switch it up with whichever fruits are your favorites.
